4.8 Summary

The scenegraph is the central data structure in Java 3D, and a good understanding of how to design an efficient scenegraph—balancing performance, reusability, and speed of development—will prove invaluable as you move on to design your application and read the chapters to come. You should experiment with the three examples covered in this chapter: ScenegraphTest, ImmediateTest, and MixedTest. By making changes, particularly to the scenegraph structure in the ScenegraphTest example, you will quickly be able to customize the examples to serve as simple prototypes for your own application.
